Outdoor Recreation & Wellness Center Closes on October 26
Polk County Conservation has been providing access to the Jester Park Outdoor Recreation & Wellness Center this summer and fall while the weather has been such that the overhead doors could be open to ensure proper ventilation in the facility. Now that the weather is getting cooler, these doors need to be closed. This factor, combined with the inability for the public to safely socially distance while using the climbing wall and archery/air rifle area, has led to our decision to close the facility on Monday, October 26th until further notice. We will continually monitor public health recommendations related to COIVD-19 and reopen the facility when it is safe to do so.
On a bright note, we will rent snowshoes and cross-country skis to the public when there is at least 6” of snow on the ground. Equipment can be rented from the Center seven days per week for a full day or half day when conditions are right. More details to come on this process so watch the Jester Park Nature Center website and Facebook page for updates.
