Programs & Events

Educating the public about conservation and outdoor recreation is a key component of Polk County Conservation's mission. Naturalists at the Jester Park Nature Center conduct programs and provide valuable resources and information to the public.

Our day camps, led by Polk County Conservation Naturalists, are designed to encourage hands-on learning through outdoor explorations, activities, games, crafts, and more.

Education Resources

Polk County Conservation Board offers nature programming for preschools, elementary, middle, and high schools, church groups, scout groups, civic groups, etc. Most programs are hands-on and interactive.

Glow Wild

Glow Wild is an annual event held at Jester Park since 2016 to benefit local conservation and outdoor recreation efforts. Glow Wild is the premiere family-friendly Labor Day weekend event in the Des Moines area!

Park Packs

Eleven nature themed backpacks were designed to help families, scout groups, home schoolers, and other groups explore the wonders of nature around them.
